A few last musings on month 1 of the NA to kick off the decade…

Today we start the decade off by closing out our ‘New Adventure’ (NA) series and preparing to begin our next segment: ‘The Anatomy Of A Heist’. But first, to put a bow on the NA writings covering this very interesting month 1 of the New Adventure.
I was definitely intrigued at the mystery of what becoming a parent would feel like. That fact that it was such a universal experience and I couldn’t even guess compelled me to document it.
Well, I realized I’m not very good at writing about feelings or being a parent but I could tell you what happened.
I didn’t realize I’d stumble into a lesson on the old writers’ adage, ‘show don’t tell’. Character’s react to incidents. Telling is pointless.
Here’s one more.
The other day Lila was starting to cry so I picked her up. I know her cry by now, she just needed some sweet hugs from dad.
Once the wimpering grew into the yell of a demon’s spawn I handed her over to mom.
See, you guys know what I mean.

I had a dream last week that I was on stage playing bass with For Now. We were about to start a show but I couldn’t find my cord, or my tuner, and I didn’t know any of the songs.
I’ve been planning to write a letter this week with my thoughts on pending parenthood and I’m deciding that the timing of this dream must have been a mere coincidence…silly universe.
