WELCOME TO SEASON 3, THE NEXT ADVENTURE (NA) SERIES
I had a dream last week that I was on stage playing bass with For Now. We were about to start a show but I couldn’t find my cord, or my tuner, and I didn’t know any of the songs.
I’ve been planning to write a letter this week with my thoughts on pending parenthood and I’m deciding that the timing of this dream must have been a mere coincidence…silly universe.

Dear Bug,
We’re very excited for your big debut.
It’s fascinating to think about how many things are going to change in an instant in ways that are a total mystery right now. What will it feel like? What will you look like? Will you like pizza?
I’m eager to see.
As far as writing goes, I know there’ll be no more time for fluff.
I like the idea of finding just a few minutes a week to try and say something useful and true and seeing what comes out.
The definition of a writer is ‘someone who writes’ so this will be my test.
I’ll teach you everything I’ve learned but I’ll be taking cues from you on all the things we tend to forget.
Most importantly I’m gonna need you to believe that your dreams have to be really big. If they aren’t enormous in your head then what’s going to happen when you begin transforming them into reality?
I also need you to know that your dreams have to be your own. Not mine, not your friends, and not what the world tells you a reasonable dream ought to be.
I know that if these words are going to be anything more than lip service then I can’t just say this while making excuses for myself. I have to face myself in the mirror and show you how serious I am.
Writers, by definition put their thoughts down on paper, they go on record and I wanted to record where I currently stand the week before you arrive.
I don’t know what the details will look like but it’ll sure be interesting to see what we write next week.
Love you bug. We’ll see you real soon.
Love, Dad
